Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), Uk releases World Giving Index every year to show how much people around the world have been able or willing to help their fellow man and woman, through the donation of money, volunteering of time, and proffering of help to those they do not know.
The World Giving Index 2012 consists of 146 countries from across the globe. The 2012 Index is compiled
using data collected throughout 2011 and surveyed over 155,000 people.
Key findings of 2012 report
- Australia is the most generous country in the world
- Globally, average participation in giving has fallen since 2007
- The most generous countries have very diverse social, economic, geographic and political profiles
- Helping strangers is the most commonplace giving behaviour, volunteering time the least
